Comics to Immerse Yourself In

Sunset Palms Blog, Hollywood, FL Apartments The great superheroes movies usually have a comic that they're derived from. Delve into the world of comics with our suggestions on comics to read!

With the emergence of so many superhero movies within recent years, if you haven’t been an avid comic reader, you might feel left out or lost among the fans. In this week’s Sunset Palms Blog, we share with you some comics you can read in your apartment to catch up with the rest of the world or to get you started on the visual phenomenon known as comics!

Spiderman

Viewed as a main staple of the Marvel universe, Spiderman has made multiple appearances in movies, more notably in the latest Avengers: Infinity War movie. Spiderman has also been portrayed by three different people since the first blockbuster movie in 2002: Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland. Before the movies, the comics existed for years, with the first appearance being in 1962. With so many differing views on the movie, the comics are a great look into the universe of the character Spiderman, how he became the web-slinging and wall-crawling superhero he is, and what he’s done with those powers.

X-Men

Started by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, the X-Men comics are some of Marvel’s most popular comics. The X-Men are a group of heroes with mutant superpowers who strive to save the world from all that threatens it, even though they live “in a world where anti-mutant bigotry is fierce and widespread.” Beyond characters portrayed in 20th Century Fox film series, the X-Men consist of hundreds mutants fighting for the sake of their world and for their own survival. These comics are a good look into the vastness of the Marvel universe and the diversity of characters held within.

Batman

Detective Comics, also known as DC, is known to be the rival of Marvel. DC has produced many different types of comics, most notably Batman and Superman. Batman has become one of the most recognized superheroes, despite his lack of actual superpowers. With actors like Adam West, George Clooney, and Christian Bale portraying the dark knight, Batman has grown into a household name. Because of such popularity, Batman is the perfect comic to read to get into the DC world.

Wonder Woman

With the recent box office blockbuster hit, Wonder Woman has launched her way into the hearts of many fans. Portrayed most recently by Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman tackles evil with strength, compassion, and her Lasso of Truth. This comic shows the linking of worlds, where the gods intermix with the mortals, and is a perfect contrast to the dark, moody portrayal of Batman.

These heroes are the genesis of the on screen smash hits that a majority of the world has come to know and love. If you’re a die hard fan, you will be critical of the differences between the two, and that’s okay. It is good to educate yourself and see exactly where these popular movies come from, and the creativity and genius that go into each and every character.
