Once you’ve had your fill of sitting around your Hollywood, FL apartment reading comics and watching shows on Hulu, you might want to get some exercise. Summer is a great time to get back to being healthy and treating your body right. In this week’s Sunset Palms Blog, we’ve got some suggestions on how to make the most of working out this summer.

Take it Slow

Remember the days when you could lift heavy weights and run five miles without much of a problem? If you haven’t exercised or hit the gym in a while, there’s a very good chance that you’re not going to perform the way you used to. Take it slow. Strength is built and maintained through consistent exercise, so understand that you might not be able to do what you were previously capable of. Don’t worry though, start small and work up, and you’ll get back to your peak soon enough!

Dress for Success

Get yourself in the mood to exercise by wearing workout clothes that you’re going to feel great in! Find clothes that are light, breathable, and wick sweat away from your body to keep you cool. Dressing correctly when you work out in the summer is crucial for giving you the motivation to keep going. It’s difficult to keep working out when you feel too hot and uncomfortable!

Rest

This is by far the most important tip, but it’s also one that people neglect doing. Rest is important when you’re looking to maintain your workout routine and get the results you want. Take care of your body. Rest allows your body to repair itself after you’ve worked it to the bone. Taking some time away from exercising helps you reduce the chance of injury, and can help you maintain the fervor of getting healthy and strong. Too many workouts in a row can burn you out!
