Clean Up this Spring
Spring starts on March 20th, and it is a perfect opportunity to clean your house up! Finding a cleaning method that works for you is important in sustaining an organized home, so we’ve decided to share with you some ways to do that in this week’s Sunset Palms Blog. We hope you enjoy these spring cleaning tips! Get Inspired with the KonMari Method If you need some inspiration as you embark on this spring cleaning journey, you can catch the Netflix show taking the world by storm: Tidying Up with Marie Kondo. Through the course of each episode, Marie Kondo works with homeowners as they attempt to clean their home and reclaim their lives from the stress of being untidy. Not only do you get the satisfaction of seeing the before and after, but you can also pick up useful skills that can aid you in your cleaning. Move the Furniture Furniture gets in the way of everything, especially cleaning. It’s easy to clean around your furniture and leave it at that, but we recommend moving the furniture and cleaning under it. You’ll be surprised what ends up down there! After moving your furniture, you can clean up the dust and other particles, and you may even find things you’ve lost! Having moved your furniture, rearrange it and give your home a new look! Organize with Boxes As you’re cleaning, you’re bound to find things that don’t have a place. To avoid having a messy look around your home, we suggest organizing with boxes or containers (especially if they’re decorative). Boxes give you a spot to store things that would not otherwise have a place. Do you have any cleaning tips? Share them with our Hollywood, FL apartment community and make our lives a little easier!

National Nutrition Month
March is National Nutrition Month, so it’s time to evaluate your lifestyle and make some positive changes! It can be hard to make a change, so we’ve decided to help you out. We’ve got a few tips in this week’s Sunset Palms Blog for you on how you can eat better. These tips will hopefully help you make lasting changes in the way you handle your nutrition. Avoid Processed Foods Junk food and processed food are filled with chemicals and preservatives that your body doesn’t know what to do with. It is more difficult for your body to digest these types of food, and they are often not broken down properly. These type of foods trick our brains into eating more than we need, which is more of an issue than the high calories these processed foods have. Stop Drinking Sugar Calories As delicious as soda is, it’s not the wisest choice to drink it. Excessive sugar intake can take a toll on your body. Much like the first tip, we suggest you avoid processed drinks. High fructose corn syrup is prevalent in a majority of these processed drinks, and when you intake too much, it can lead to weight gain and other health problems. Make a better choice and choose water instead. Treat Yourself Occasionally Once you’ve started on your quest to change your eating habits, it can feel a little overwhelming to not be able to eat what you used to gravitate toward. Know that it’s okay to treat yourself every once in a while. Otherwise, you may burn out and fall off the healthy eating wagon entirely. It’s better to treat yourself occasionally and sustain your eating habits than swear it off entirely and make bad overall choices. Do you have any healthy eating tips for National Nutrition Month? Share them with our Hollywood, FL apartment community!

Life Skills You Need to Know
When you legally became an adult, did you feel like you were ready for the responsibility that came with it? Make a Meal Though unlikely, it’s quite possible to go through your entire teenage years without making a single thing for yourself to eat. The world we live in has made it easy to remove the need for cooking, with a variety of fast food options to choose from, and even frozen or prepared meals you can purchase at the grocery store. Learning to make simple meals can help you save money! Once you’ve gotten used to making simple meals, you’ll be able to branch out and make more complex dishes and maybe even make Thanksgiving dinner this year! Change a Flat Being stranded on the side of the road isn’t fun, neither is having to pay out of your nose to get your car towed to the nearest mechanic. Save yourself some money by learning how to change a flat tire. Not only will you be able to save money, but you’ll also be able to get to where you’re going with only a minor setback and feel accomplished. If you aren’t sure how to change a tire, check out Bridgestone’s tutorials ! Budgeting Your Money Once you’ve started working full time, you’re going to have an influx of money that you have access to. If you’re not careful, that money could easily slip through your fingers and you’ll end up with nothing before you know it. To avoid this, we suggest budgeting! There are a few ways to budget, but you start by tracking your spending and listing your expenses. Once you have a clear idea of how much you’re spending, you can then make any changes to your spending habits! Travel this Year
Do you enjoy travel? Many people wish to travel, but neglect to plan in advance to make it a reality. There are so many places in the world that make for great travel destinations and all it takes is some careful planning, saving, and the desire. In this week’s Sunset Palms Blog, we’ve got a few suggestions on how you can scratch that travel itch this year! Travel Internationally When people think of traveling, international travel is usually what they’re referring to. There are so many other countries outside of the United States of America that are great places to visit! Whether you wish to go to London, Korea, Australia, or Egypt, you can enjoy the different ways of life and cultures of the people there. Such travel can be expensive, so we recommend starting to plan now and saving if you wish to go in the summer. Before you leave, do your research. Not every country will be similar to the United States and are likely to have different cultures and customs you will not be used to. Be aware of these customs so you don’t offend others; you’re a guest in their country, so be on your best behavior. Visit States You’ve Never Been Do you ever feel like it’s not traveling if you’re not leaving the country? As many countries as there are to visit outside the United States, there are probably states that you have never been to. Take some time to get out of Hollywood, FL to see the rest of the country! Go skiing in Colorado, jump into the ocean in Hawaii, or visit the Empire State Building in New York! You can even buy a map of the United States and fill in the states you’ve been to, that way you have a record of where you’ve been — plus, you can show off your travel experience! Share your travel experiences with our apartment community. Thanks for reading!

Ways to Get a Fresh Start this New Year
January is the start of the new year, a chance to leave the previous year behind and start fresh. Whether you had a good year or a bad one, having a fresh start can give you a new perspective on the upcoming year and can help you have some clarity on the resolutions you’re going to make. In this week’s Sunset Palms Blog, we’ve compiled a short list of ways you can get a fresh start this new year! Declutter/Clean Your Home Cleaning out your home can have a profound impact on how you feel. Take some time to declutter your apartment, removing any unused, unwanted, and old things. Through the year, you’re bound to accumulate items, many of which can be associated with events that have transpired, good or bad. Items associated with a bad memory can dampen any fresh start you wish to have, so remove them from your home, clean up, and enjoy a new year free of clutter and bad vibes. Make Some Goals If you look at the new year like a clean slate, you’ve got so much opportunity ahead of you. Don’t squander the opportunity by being lazy, make some goals and resolve to complete them before the end of the year. Resolutions are a good way for you to commit to making positive changes in your life. If you have large goals, set preliminary goals you can check off to gauge progress! Get New Clothes Nothing says “new you” quite like new clothes. Other people may not be as privy to your new clothes, but you’ll be able to feel great! Treat yourself and splurge a little when you go shopping. How you feel about how you look during the new year can give you that added confidence to get out and do great things! Do you have any ways you like to hit the reset button each new year? Let our Hollywood, FL community know about them by leaving us a comment. Thanks for reading!
