Relax with a Nice Bath-image

Relaxing can be difficult when your life gets busy with all the things you need to do. We suggest slipping into a nice bath to relax and soothe your soul. Take some time out of your busy day to fill the tub with hot water, soak your stressed self, and take a load off. In this week’s Sunset Palms Blog, we’ve got a few ways you can spice up your bath time and take it to the next level of relaxation! Set the Mood To ensure that you’ve got the right mood for relaxation, try dimming the lights, turning on some mellow music, and lighting some candles. Setting the right mood can help facilitate a more relaxed state and allow you to forget the world around you. Soak in the nice hot bath water and breathe in the flowery aromas of your scented candles or bath bomb.   Put away the Phone Taking a bath should relax you and allow some solace from the busy world. Unless you’re using your mobile device as a means of music, remove the distraction. Keep your phone out of the bathroom, preferably on silent. You also don’t want to accidentally drop your phone into your bath water! Bath Bombs Spice up your bath time with a bath bomb. These add-ins are usually made with natural dry ingredients and essential oils and are used to add bubbles or scents to your hot water bath. Check out Idea Hacks’ top 10 best bath bombs or make your own by following some recipes! Remember that although bath bombs are meant to be used to relax, you might experience irritation due to the strength of the scents or the ingredients used. Be sure to consult the packaging to make sure you’re not allergic to anything in the product. Do you have any tips for enjoying a bath? Hobbies to Pick Up-image

Though there are many things to watch on Netflix or Hulu, being glued to a television screen is not good for you. In this week's Sunset Palms Blog, we’ve got a list of hobbies you can pick up instead of watching a TV show in your apartment. Instead of settling into your couch for hours of binge-watching, try some of the items on our list. 1. Painting Remember when you were in kindergarten or primary school and your teachers would give you time to paint? Painting is a great way to express your creativity and can be an outlet for grief and other stressful emotions. The best part about painting is that you’re not restricted in any way when it comes to creation, you are free to paint the Eiffel Tower or experiment with colors and patterns of your choosing. You may not necessarily end up as the next Pablo Picasso, but you may end up with a painting you’d eventually frame for your own personal use! 2. Photography Have you ever wanted to capture a moment in time? Photography allows you to do just that, though perhaps not in the way you were thinking. Photographs can capture memories and snippets of time that would otherwise be left unremembered. Usually, professional photographers use DSLR (Digital Single-Lense Reflex) cameras, but if you’re looking to start, there’s nothing wrong with using your phone’s camera. If you intend on getting a DSLR, we suggest doing some research online or asking professionals what a good starter camera is. Thanks to the internet, there are many tips and tutorials available that will help speed your learning process up. 3. A Sport Sports are a not only a good pastime, but they’re also great exercise. Finding a sport that interests you can be the catalyst for a healthier lifestyle, generally. Whether you’re interested in tennis, basketball, soccer, volleyball or another sport, you can usually find communities in the Hollywood, FL area for that sport. Sports for the Summer-image

Sports are a good way to get exercise. They are fun and can involve exercising multiple muscles, allowing you to develop strength in a non-tedious way. Though there are many sports that are perfect for the summer, we’ve got a list of a few in our Sunset Palms Blog that we think are the sports to participate in this summer!   Tennis This sport is perfect for a summer day, as there are many outdoor tennis courts around, even at our apartment community ! Tennis requires tennis rackets, a ball, and at least two people. The goal of the game is to either score an ace (serving the first ball without the opponent returning it to your side within the boundaries) or returning the ball on your opponent’s side without them being able to do so. If you have 3 other friends, it’s possible to play doubles!      Soccer A popular game around the world, soccer is played on many playing fields, from groomed soccer fields to dirt patches all over the world. All you need is a ball and you can play this great game! The rules are simple, kick the soccer ball into the opponent’s goal and prevent the opposing team from doing the same. Find any open field and you’ll be on your way to hours of fun!   Ultimate Frisbee Enjoy running down the length of the field and tossing the frisbee to your teammates in this competitive game! Players with the frisbee may not run with the disc, and can only advance the disc up the field by passing it to teammates. Remember that physical contact is prohibited in this game, so avoid being overly physical or you’ll end up with a foul!     What are your favorite summer sports? Take Care of Your Car-image

If you’re commuting for work, you’re likely to have a car. Because you’re using your car so often, you should take care of it to keep it in good working order as well as to keep it clean. In this week’s Sunset Palms Blog, we’ve got a few tips and tricks for you to try when you clean your car. Take advantage of the warm summer weather here in Hollywood, FL to get out of your apartment and make your vehicle sparkle!   Declutter Much like your apartment, clutter can make your car appear dirty and unkempt. Do yourself a favor and remove any items from your car that don’t have a place in it, those items can include but are not limited to trash, clothes, and miscellaneous items. Once these unnecessary items are removed, you’ll be able to see a clear difference that you’ll want to keep!   If you’re having trouble staying organized, consider investing in a trunk organizer to place your car essentials in. This way, the items you need won’t be laying around on the floor of your car but will be neatly placed in an easy to reach area.      Wash the Exterior Once the interior of your car is clean, it’s time to make sure the outside is clean as well. Because your car is exposed to the elements, it’s likely that it will need a deep clean. Use car soap and microfiber towels to get your cleaning started. Remember to wash from the top down. This allows for gravity to aid you in pulling the dirt and grime down to the ground and reduces the chance that stray pieces of rock or dirt will scratch the paint on your precious vehicle. Giving your car a wash will give your car new life and make it look great!     Take it to a Mechanic With the interior and exterior clean, you’re going to want to make sure that your car is running properly. Taking it to a mechanic can help you to pinpoint any issues that your car may be experiencing. Use this as an opportunity to refill fluids, change tires and ensure that your car is running at peak performance.

Summer Workout Tips-image

Once you’ve had your fill of sitting around your Hollywood, FL apartment reading comics and watching shows on Hulu, you might want to get some exercise. Summer is a great time to get back to being healthy and treating your body right. In this week’s Sunset Palms Blog, we’ve got some suggestions on how to make the most of working out this summer.   Take it Slow Remember the days when you could lift heavy weights and run five miles without much of a problem? If you haven’t exercised or hit the gym in a while, there’s a very good chance that you’re not going to perform the way you used to. Take it slow. Strength is built and maintained through consistent exercise, so understand that you might not be able to do what you were previously capable of. Don’t worry though, start small and work up, and you’ll get back to your peak soon enough!   Dress for Success Get yourself in the mood to exercise by wearing workout clothes that you’re going to feel great in! Find clothes that are light, breathable, and wick sweat away from your body to keep you cool. Dressing correctly when you work out in the summer is crucial for giving you the motivation to keep going. It’s difficult to keep working out when you feel too hot and uncomfortable!   Rest This is by far the most important tip, but it’s also one that people neglect doing. Rest is important when you’re looking to maintain your workout routine and get the results you want. Take care of your body. Rest allows your body to repair itself after you’ve worked it to the bone. Taking some time away from exercising helps you reduce the chance of injury, and can help you maintain the fervor of getting healthy and strong. Too many workouts in a row can burn you out!   What are your best tips for getting in a good work out? Let us know in the comments. Thanks for reading today’s post.
