In order to make sure you aren’t bored out of your mind at home, we’ve compiled a short list of binge-worthy shows on Netflix to share with you in this week’s Sunset Palms Blog. We hope you enjoy these suggestions, and remember to take appropriate bathroom and rest breaks from binging! Stranger Things If you’re a fan of suspenseful TV shows, you don’t want to miss out on Stranger Things. Since its first season, this series has taken the world by storm! The series follows a small group of kids in the fictional town of Hawkins and their adventures with the supernatural occurrences happening in their town after their friend goes missing. There are three seasons, so you have plenty to binge if you haven’t watched it yet!  Riverdale Did you grow up reading the Archie comics? If you did, you’ll be familiar with many of these character representations, as this series is based off those comics. Ways to Relax this Summer-image

Not every summer needs to be filled with activities or vacations. Sometimes, it’s just better to take some time for yourself and relax from the stress of your regular life. In this week’s Sunset Palms Blog, we’ve got a few ways you can relax and unwind this summer in and out of your Hollywood, FL apartment.  Relax in a Hammock The weather is bound to be warm, so we recommend finding a nice spot with plenty of shade to set up your hammock! In a hammock, you can enjoy the warm weather, feel the breeze, and relax your summer day away. Hammocking is best done with friends so you can lay and chat with your friends about anything and everything. Try it out today! Take a Nap The best place to relax is in your own home where you’re comfortable and cool! If you have some free time, do yourself a favor and take a nap. There may be other matters that you could defer your attention to, but taking a nap can be a good refresher for your exhausted body and mind. Your body doesn’t need to “catch up” on sleep, which is why we recommend napping between 10 and 20 minutes. Any more than that could cause you to feel lethargic and groggy for the rest of the day, so avoid that at all costs! Head to the Pool  Relaxing in the summer revolves around keeping cool and taking a break from your stressful responsibilities, so what better way to do that than by spending a day at the pool? You can lay out in the sun to get a tan or jump in the pool to cool off! Remember to dress appropriately and be safe when at the pool. Advise any children and friends you’re with to refrain from running around the pool.

Summer Workout Tips-image

It’s never too late to work on your beach body, especially here in Hollywood, FL, even though the summer is winding down. Though getting fit is the aesthetic goal for the summer, it improves your overall health and can extend your lifespan. To help you get motivated or continue on your fitness journey, we’ll share some things to keep in mind when hitting the gym in this week’s Sunset Palms Blog.  Lift Heavy The most popular thing to do when going to the gym or exercising is getting in a cardiovascular workout, but we recommend not limiting yourself to just that. Lifting weights helps you get stronger and can provide you with a good cardiovascular workout if you’re maintaining a good routine. Although it can be tempting to gauge your performance on how many repetitions you do, but we want to advise you that proper form while lifting will be a greater benefit to you than lifting a ton of reps. Lifting heavy can be a little dangerous when you don’t know how much weight you can handle, so be careful and start low and work your way up! Be Consistent When you’re getting into working out or wanting to maintain your current momentum, we recommend doing your best to be consistent! Even though you may not be lifting very heavy or going very hard at the gym, the consistency at the gym will help you see better results. For some, consistency may mean 4-5 times a week, but the consistency that matters is ensuring that you’re going to the gym or exercising through the year.  Rest There’s more to working out than being consistent, especially if you’re wanting to maintain your motivation. There’s nothing more miserable than being on a roll at the gym then straining something. In order to keep yourself healthy and going to the gym through the year, we recommend resting, and we don’t just mean between sets. Give your body time to rest so it can recover. Doing so will allow your muscles to recover, helping you stave off unwanted injury.  Whether you’re exercising at a gym or at home in your apartment, we hope these tips help you reach your fitness goals!
